President Pat Gooden hopes the 26^th annual race day will attract a big crowd.

“It’s been a tough season for farmers so hopefully they can get out and enjoy a day of socialising,” he said.

A farmer himself and part of the race club for the past 26 years Mr Gooden is grateful to all sponsors, supports and racegoers who support the day each year.

“We’ve only missed a couple with the equine flu, floods and when the track was too wet in 2016,” he said. 

If there isn’t any rain ahead of the day the track will be watered in the week leading up to the races to ensure it’s in top condition for the races. 

“We’re hoping to get a good field,” Mr Gooden said.

“Trainers and owners always support us.”

Most races have prize money of $3250 with most of that coming from sponsors and a portion form Racing NSW.

Local support is evident throughout the race with volunteers organising the day and local businesses sponsoring races and fashions on the field. 

Fashion and style are always an important part of any race day and Lockhart Picnic Races are no exception.

Members recieve a car stickers which provides free parking in the members area where you can set up a gazebo beside your car.
