The 11-tonne aircraft was transported from the RAAF base at Point Cook near Melbourne to Wagga in an operation that was three months in the planning.
Ken Deacon from Wagga Mobile Cranes said the load, which was 8.5 metres wide, was accompanied by five escorts vehicles, including police.
The convoy left Point Cook about 1am and arrived in Wagga, after some rest breaks en route, about 2pm.
Mr Deacon said there was a changeover of police escorts at the NSW-Victorian border.
Mirage aircrafts were built in the 1960s and this particular aircraft was flown by Wing Commander Bill Evans.
Personnel from RAAF Base Wagga are hoping he will visit the base and get back in the cockpit.
