Coffee Niche owner Brigeen Dedini said winning the top gong at the 2018 Restaurant and Catering Awards gave the whole staff at the cosy corner cafe a huge boost.
“It's great, because it just means you're doing your job properly,” Ms Dedini said.
“Hospitality's a bit of a tough gig – it's pretty hectic and you're on your feet all day, so it's nice to get that reward.”
It was a tough process to get to the top, and team was judged on everything from their phone manner to plate presentation.
Ms Dedini said the secret to their success was making it all about the customer.
“You’ve just got to have a bit of a rapport with you customers – and we have great customers – which is really important considering we’re not on the main drag,” she said.
Coffee Niche is now in the running for the best cafe in regional Australia.
