The 2018 NSW excellence in nursing and midwifery awards will be presented in Sydney on September 27 by Health Minister Brad Hazzard.
Wagga Base Hospital’s Jennifer McKenzie has been nominated in the customer appreciation category.
In her award nomination, Ms McKenzie, a nurse practitioner in the hospital’s palliative care team, was described as being “person-centred”.
“She never made us feel rushed; she had time for us and made us feel like she truly cared,” the nomination reads.
Ms McKenzie won the leadership award and the executive director nursing and midwifery leadership award at the Murrumnbidgee Local Health District’s awards in July.
Carlie Davis from the Narrandera Community Health Centre has been nominated in the category for excellence in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander healthcare.
Ms Davis is being recognised for her collaborative care planning and service response for complex perinatal cases.
She helped to create a “community space” for providing antenatal and early childhood services from an accessible venue in the middle of Narrandera.
