Blake was a dominant figure in last year’s grand final triumph but looked set to walk away in a bid to see out a season in the men’s reserve grade competition.
“I said I’d be playing with the boys but ended up playing nine or so games with the girls because I thought they needed some extra help. I’m not sure how much help I was but the girls have definitely improved since the start of the year,” Blake said.
“I know they copped a few big losses early … but I think our confidence has grown.”
The veteran midfielder says she’ll have her hands full against a strong Hawks line up but is excited at the challenge ahead.
“There’s plenty of belief but Hawks have a good midfield and Brooke (Gayler)’s strong up front, so we need to shut them down. Anything can happen,” Blake said.
