Crime issues and policing needs in the Adelong community were in the spotlight during Minister for Police Troy Grant’s visit today.

Mr Grant met with Adelong Senior Constable Jason Maybury to discuss crime issues and hear about the features that locals need in their soon-to-be-built $1 million station.
Mr Grant said Adelong Police Station had served the local community well but it was time for a major upgrade.
“As a former country police officer, I know all too well the importance of providing regional and rural police with modern facilities and equipment,” he said.
“The current station has now reached it’s used by date and the NSW Police Force is in the process of identifying a new location and purchasing the land.”
Once purchased, the design and development of the new station will be conducted.
Adelong police officers will also provide input to ensure it meets their needs.
Mr Grant said that every day, local police off put their lives on the line protecting their communities, responding to violent incidents and supporting victims of crime.
“I will continue to fight to ensure our men and women in blue are equipped and resourced to continue the amazing work they’re renowned for,” he said.
The 2018–19 budget allocation for the upgrade of Adelong Police Station will allow the final planning and development approvals to occur.
Mr Grant’s visit to Adelong came on the same day Rural Crime Week was launched in Wagga.
