Gestier, dual Jim Quinn Medal winner Jayden Klemke, Tom Byrnes and Tim Beckmans are all looking to overcome hamstring complaints to take their place against Griffith on Saturday.
However none are guaranteed to come back into the side who downed the Swans two weeks ago.
Gestier is more than happy to play the waiting game.
“There’s four possibilities who are four senior players and throughout the year have definitely been in our top 18, but are no certainties,” Gestier said.
“Having no certainities is a good and a bad problem to have.
“We are giving them every chance, but they have to prove themselves.”
Gestier and Klemke are both confident they will be right to play.
Klemke re-injured his hamstring against Griffith while Gestier hasn’t played since the last round of the regular season.
However he expects to take his place in the forward line.
“I’m pretty confident, obviously I have to do everything right this week, but I am confident,” he said.
“Then again, I have been confident in the past and it hasn’t worked out.”
After going down in last year’s grand final, Gestier doesn’t want to take two many risks coming up against a side who has only lost the once this season.
“If blokes have any question marks at all we’re probably erring on the side of not playing because I need a fit side,” he said.
“I need a side up and about, and you don’t know what goes on during a game, but I can’t afford to potentially take blokes in under done.”
Gestier thought having the week off after the 13-point win in second semi-final win was a huge blessing.
He didn’t think any of the quartet would have been fit enough to play in the preliminary final.
After winning the minor premiership last season, Gestier admitted the Demons struggled coming off a break.
However despite so many injury concerns, he believes the side is now much better equipped to handle the week off between games.
“Being a first-year coach and new with the group we probably got a few things wrong,” Gestier said.
“That is hindsight, and hindsight is a great thing, but this year we’ve really knuckled down, are really well organised and had a really good week on the track, trained well on Saturday and are in good shape.
“I’m confident with where we sit this year.”
