Wagga’s Shed founder Rick Priest said it was the reason ‘mateship’ was chosen as the theme of this year’s Men’s Shed Week celebrations.
To kick-start the festivities, Wagga residents have been encouraged to attend the site on Friday, September 21 for the national launch.
The official opening will include guest speakers, entertainment, shed demonstrations, and ‘Spanner in the Works?’ health checks from 10am to 3pm.
Shed president Peter Quinane said it was a great opportunity for all community members to see what the shed was all about.
“We only had our 10th anniversary recently and we’ve grown with activities,” he said. “People should come to see what’s on offer.”
“It’d be very informal and in a relaxed setting.”
He said highlights included speakers who will present various topics related to men’s health.
“Topics will range from joints – knees and hips – to the recent MyHealth Record by the government,” he said.
“Morning tea will be free via a gold-coin donation.”
The event will run from 10am to 3pm.
