That’s an impressive feat for a city with a population of about 65,000 people, and something of which we should be very proud.
Wagga was declared an official Refugee Welcome Zone in 2012 by the Refugee Council of Australia, but this community has been welcoming newcomers from around the world for decades.
Is it little wonder then, that Fusion is growing to be one of the most important events on the city’s cultural calendar?
Fusion is a celebration of food, music and more from cultures across the globe and attracts more than 10,000 visitors.
It brings a world of tastes, sounds and fun to an appreciative audience that just continues to grow each year.
Fusion18 will be held in October and plans are well under way, with an impressive line-up of music artists attending, and a range of other activities that will make it even more family friendly.
As Wagga residents, we should be very proud of the community we are developing.
An increasing number of people from across the globe are choosing to leave the chaos and crowding of the capital cities and make a new life for themselves in regional Australia.
The diversity of thought, culture, language and cuisine these new residents bring has enriched our community.
We all know the benefits of living in Wagga, from the short commutes to the good schools and great recreation facilities.
Our multicultural community just adds another dimension to the city’s appeal to visitors and residents alike.
What could be more fun than bringing together all of Wagga’s communities in one huge celebration of everything that is great about our city?
The city’s music and food scenes are growing and festival as large as Fusion18 is a great way of spreading the word and enticing visitors back for some of those great micro festivals.
