The inaugural ladies only event in 2016 drew more than 50 competitors and while numbers decreased last year, event coordinator Justine King is excited for Sunday’s upcoming edition.
“It’s good fun and the girls really enjoy trying it out,” King said.
“There’s just a 6km intermediate course and a 3km beginner course up around Pomigalarna and anyone’s welcome to try it out.
“We’ve had six-year-olds race in the past and older ladies as well.”
King began mountain biking just six years ago but has already fallen in love with the sport.
“I just picked it up as a hobby to try and keep fit. It’s great fun and I’m keen to see as many people come along,” she said.
Event entry is just $5 per rider with races starting from 9am on Sunday.
“It’s not really a race – it’s just to give people a go and see if they like it,” King said.
