Junee came close with a late strike and produced an excellent scrambling defence to combat the Hawks’ pacy attacking midfield.
“(Our) efforts were very good but found in some instances (we) were caught out by a quick counter and only last ditch efforts in the backs kept the Hawks out,” Duncan said.
“It was a great game, very hard and committed defence and attack from both and Junee will take a lot from the game.”
Duncan said it was a game that ebbed and flowed and that “great defence was on show” by both sides.
Junee’s Leonard Cup squad will meet Tolland at Leeton next Sunday in what should be a cracker of a match and the Junee Madden Trophy squad will meet Young Lions in the semi final with both teams looking to book a berth in the Football Wagga grand finals in two weeks.
