Wagga United captain Lincoln Weir will take a full head of steam into this weekend’s semi final clash with undefeated Lake Albert, declaring his side are ready to “rattle their cage”.

United produced a second half onslaught to clinch a 4-2 win during last week’s elimination final against Tolland, slotting all four goals and three in the final 30 minutes to book their top-four tickets.
Weir scored United’s opening goal to spark the fightback and has wasted no time in getting the mind games underway six days out from their semi final showdown.
“I think Lake Albert would be confident they can beat us but we love being the underdogs,” Weir said.
“We will take that tag against them and play our style of football and try to rattle their cage.”
United will undoubtedly be pleased with their come-from-behind efforts against Tolland but it will take a far more measured performance to rattle the Sharks.
Lake Albert are the best defensive side in the competition and have conceded just five goals in their past 12 outings.
United will need to score first if they want to get the Sharks backpedalling and Weir knows their first-half effort against Tolland wasn’t good enough.
“The areas we need to focus on is definitely starting better and we can’t afford to start slow against Lake Albert because they can put you to the sword early on,” Weir said.
“We put ourselves under too much pressure on the weekend, so we need to play smarter and not rush it so much.

The skipper wasn’t overly thrilled with his own efforts despite a crucial goal and is determined to improve this weekend.
“I personally thought that I was rusty the first half against Tolland and I definitely know I can be much better, but I was pleased with my second half,” Weir said.
“I just need to focus on the lads, the structure and lead from the back.
“This weekend we need to be more vocal, physical and not get caught being complacent.
“If we play our style, at our pace, and win the midfield battle then I can see us putting up a tightly contested final.”
