The ‘Your Digital Life – Can You Imagine’ event, hosted by CSU’s u!magine department, at Wagga City Council Chambers will have talks and demonstrations of drones, augmented reality and virtual reality.
A panel of local and national experts will show the potential of these new technologies and how they will affect our lives.
Among the speakers will be Tim Klapdor, online learning technology leader at CSU, who will look at augmented reality.
“It’s a chance to really expose people to something that’s pretty new,” Mr Klapdor said.
“It’s now built into modern phones and will grow exponentially.
“A lot of people don’t understand what it is and how it works, so this would give them that understanding.”

The implications of AR on various industries will also be discussed.
“For example, in tourism, it would be able to provide 3D guides and information about what’s on and where things are at,” Mr Klapdor said.
“In manufacturing, instead of reading manuals, it’d show where things are, which buttons do what and the likes.
“In education as well, it would provide an overly of digital content onto static displays.
As well as AR, there will be drones and goggles that use virtual reality.
Other speakers who will present those technologies are Damien Whiffen, technical services manager at Essential Energy.
In January 2018, the organisation launched a fleet of drones across regional and rural NSW to inspect power poles, zone substations and other electrical assets across it network.
Christopher Orchard, CSU lecture in photography, will also discuss the impact of AR on the field.
The free event will run from 4.30pm to 8pm.
