Traffic has returned to normal along the Sturt Highway, following a nightmare collision on Monday evening.
While it is fortunate no one was seriously injured from the three-car crash at the Bakers Lane intersection, traffic was halted for several hours.
Drivers were encouraged to seek alternative routes, with cars banked up in both directions across Gumly.
Update: 6.50pm
Wagga drivers are advised to avoid the Sturt Highway, with diversions in place at Bakers Lane and Elizabeth Avenue, following a collision between three cars.
Those able to do so, have been urged to use alternate roads and to be cautious of increased road use in those areas.
It is unknown when the road will be reopened.
Earlier:
The Sturt Highway has been closed in both directions, following a car crash near Gumly.
Two children and a 34-year-old woman were injured when the car and four-wheel-drive collided at the Bakers Lane intersections.
According to Wagga’s NSW Ambulance station officer Darren Rudd, one car had reportedly hit another from behind, thrusting it into the path of oncoming traffic on the Sturt Highway.
Five ambulance crews rushed to the scene at about 4.45pm, after calls were made to emergency services.
It was reported the four-wheel-drive Toyota Prado had rolled several times.
Mr Rudd said it was extremely lucky no one had been seriously hurt or killed.
He said the four occupants in the vehicle were transported to hospital, three with non-life-threatening injuries.
A three-year-old girl was treated for a bleeding nose, a four-year-old boy received whiplash and the 34-year-old had copped facial injuries. Another young boy appeared to have emerged from the wreckage unscathed.
Emergency services are still on the scene at Gumly and drivers have been advised to expect delays.
