The station is recognised for its local heritage significance and all original features of the homestead remained intact and the project focused on an extension of the house.
“Skilled and specialised tradesmen with heritage experience were sourced to ensure that that the renovation matched the original architecture,” managing director Richard Pottie said. “We sourced materials and fixtures from all over the world.”
Scope of the works included demolition and reconstruction of the northern end of the homestead, construction of a new building, the recreational pavilion which included a sauna, steam room, gym and change rooms plus three hectares of landscaping. Bringing the station into the 21st century was also part of the project with a complex home automation system and reverse cycle air conditioning, electrical, plumbing and mechanical services all installed or updated.
Customised additions included a wallpaper of the property in the dining room and a ceramic-tiled mosaic entrance with “Deltroit Station” lettering to replicate the original entry.
Heritage elements included handcrafted veranda posts to replicate the originals from 1903, Welsh Slate roofing to match the federation style homestead and handmade solid oak timber joinery and doors.
Ladex Construction Group was pleased to find out that Deltroit Station is one of the Prince of Wales’ favourite places to visit in the world following his visit during the 2018 Commonwealth Games with the Duchess of Cornwall.
