Carole Wheeler, secretary of the Hudson-AMC Car Club of Australia, said the rally only comes to NSW once every six years and Wagga is fortunate to host this year’s event.

“I am from Temora, so suggested Wagga,” she said. 

​At the National Hudson Rally in Wagga, Hudson, Essex, Terraplane and Rambler cars from 1927 to 1974 were represented with entrants coming from NSW, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia and New Zealand. 

Jeffery Fripp’s grandfather was one of the original members of the club and the love for the car has been passed on.

“Now my boys are the fourth generation,” he said.

“Our car was an original, but needed restoring so my brother-in-law spent two years restoring it. It’s a family hobby.” 

Ms Wheeler said all up, members of the club would spend approximately $100,000 this week. 

“It’s a mix of old and new faces here,” she said. “It’s not a big group because the Hudsons are quite a different car.” 

The oldest car present was a 1927 Hudson from Queensland. The rally will also visit Junee, Temora, Lockhart and Coolamon.
