“I definitely think they were the fitter team out there,” Lawrence said post-match.
”It was a real contest in the first half and we were playing much better in the first half, I’d probably even say we were the better team.”
“But then they got right on top of us at the end and that was it.”
Lawrence admitted the team had struggled in the back half of the season and was upfront about their shortcomings.
“We haven’t really been there or playing at our best for the past few weeks now,” he said.
“We’ve probably lacked a bit of commitment and if we want to be up there at the end, we’ve got to work all season and not just put in a 10-week effort.
“Still, we’ve got the foundations and we’ll look for a few players to add a little bit more leadership next year.”
