Mr Funnell garnered just over 10 per cent of the primary vote, an improvement of slightly more than one per cent compared to his last tilt.
"We have achieved what we set out to achieve," he said.
“I never said it had to be me.
“But without us, it wouldn’t have happened.”
Mr Funnell said it was great to have been party of a “history-making” event in Wagga.
“People are fed up with party politics.
“There was such a protest vote.”
Mr Funnell said he believed people were becoming “re-enaged” with the political process.”
He said he had raised some “serious issues” during the election campaign, which he hoped the eventual winner would pursue.
