The Swans were overrun by Collingullie-Glenfield Park and get a second chance to qualify for the decider in next Sunday’s preliminary final.
“It’s never ideal to have a loss towards the end of the season,” Griggs said.
“It was far from our best performance today but credit to Gullie, they’re a great team and it takes four quarters to beat them and once you switch off towards the end of the last, they ran over the top of us.
“We talked at the end of the game and I’m pretty confident we’ll respond.”
To make matters worse for Griffith, they lost on-baller Sam Foley to what appears to be a season-ending hamstring injury.
Griggs said the most disappointing aspect of the loss was that they got outworked by Collingullie-GP, something the Swans have prided themselves on throughout the year.
“I think just our work rate. That’s been our main key all year, running teams off their feet,” he said.
“I think on transition, when we move the ball forward, it was coming out too easy and we made a point of it at half-time to really shut that down and that last half of that last quarter they ran it out with ease and that was the most disappointing thing.
“They were getting on the outside of us and really fanning out, which is basically what we want to do to our opposition and they did it to us.”
Griffith went through the home and away season undefeated, winning all 16 games to go straight through to the second semi-final.
They will face the winner of Sunday’s first semi-final between Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong and Leeton-Whitton.
