On Saturday, Wellways is hosting an event in the lead up to their “Break the Cycle - Share the Journey” ride.
Regional manager Zoe Evans said they will be setting up four stationary bikes outside Kmart in Sturt Mall with the aim to peddle 593kms within a 12-hour period.
“This will be an opportunity for the community to jump on a bike and match those kilometres before we take on the challenge in October,” she said.
“It also will be in conjunction with for World Suicide Prevention Day.”
Ms Evans said they had chosen a bike ride due to the ‘well-known’ links between physical exercise and mental health.
“We are so grateful to Snap Fitness,” she said.
“They put on weekly spin classes for our team, discounted memberships and access to a personal trainer.
“That partnership has been integral and has been beneficial for us taking care of our own mental health.”
