For the past 11 years Ray Bell Building has taken out the award for best bathroom at the Master Builders Association Awards.
Bathroom renovations are a specality for Ray who does most of the work on his own including plastering, waterproofing and tiling.
Thanks to reliable contactors he can also manage the plumbing and electrical work for his clients.
While a typical bathroom renovation takes around four weeks this job took six-and-a-half due to all the work involved.
This year’s winning bathroom involved moving walls, installing new walls in the ensuite and bathroom and installing a false ceiling to create a smaller ensuite and larger walk-in-robe.
Scope of the job also included removing all floor and wall tiles, moving plumbing and retiling.
While the ensuite was smaller judges commented on how inviting the space was, the value for money and attention to detail.
“I think the judges liked the space created,” Ray said.
“The owners also selected the tiles and the herringbone tiling on the wall became a feature.
“The owners picked out their own accessories which were high end which contributed to the finish.”
Ray was happy to work with these clients who had a good eye for detail and had a plan of how they wanted things to be finished.
