Leeton Public School claimed back-to-back Trent Barrett Shield titles after a win over Gundagai Public in the final at Paramore Park on Tuesday.

The defending champions got off to a brilliant start when Solomon Liu scored in the opening minute and from there were never headed.
They led 16-8 at half-time but Gundagai never gave up and kept responding to tries from the Leeton side before falling 24-20.
Coach Scott McDonald was pleased with the team’s performance.
“It was nice to go back-to-back,” McDonald said.
“A lot of these boys stayed back after being part of last year’s win so I had a fair bit of confidence in them.”
McDonald wanted to take a small but speedy team who defended well into the competition and it worked well.
Ethan McDonald was named best in the grand final while Eli Doyle took out players player for the whole day.
