Klemke only lasted half a game in his return from a hamstring injury in Saturday’s qualifying final win over Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong.

He suffered another minor tear in the hamstring but saw a physiotherapist on Tuesday and has been given the all clear to return in a fortnight if required.

“There’s a slight tear but it was more precautionary when I came off. I could have kept playing but I didn’t want to risk it,” Klemke said.

“I’ll have this week off and should be right for the prelim.”

If Collingullie-GP defeat Griffith on Saturday at Narrandera Sportsground, they will go straight through to the grand final. A loss to the undefeated Swans and they will face the winner of Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong and Leeton-Whitton in the preliminary final.

Klemke said it was frustrating to have to sit a final out.

“It was more unlucky than anything. I had done everything right and gave it time,” he said.

“Everyone said I was right to play. I had done all the training, it was just unlucky, and that’s what has disappointed me the most.”

Klemke believes the Demons can down the Swans and go straight through to the decider.

“I’m backing the boys, I think they’re a red hot chance,” he said.

“Last time against Griffith we were a chance to win, we just didn’t take our opportunities.”
