Norma Judd, a member of the Country Women’s Association’s Wagga Evening Branch, said she enjoyed cooking for the exhibit.
The showcase is hosted by the CWA and all the branches provide items to fit within a chosen theme.
“This year the theme is peace and we have to provide eight items,” Ms Judd said.
"I decided I would do a fruit cake because it was something people could send to soldiers in the war.
“During the Second World War we used to send them to a lady in England and in the First World War my family would send similar things.”
Ms Judd said she had used a Christmas cake recipe which took some time as the fruit needed to soak to get all the flavours bursting.
The CWA has always had exhibits and all branches provide items for the bays, Ms Judd said.

“It’s important that we continue to do it, even as some of the members get older,” she said.
“It’s also a great way for the community to come together.”
The Wagga show is promising a line up with cake decorating, poultry, farm produce, photography and the farmer’s challenge.
The Rooftop Show will also be bringing the Heroes of the Outback which features stunts, ‘true blue Australian comedy’ and horsemanship.
David Manchon, from Flex Horse Training, said they are keen to celebrate the Wagga Show.
“The Rooftop Express Production is partnering with the Wagga Show Society to share an uplifting message about the role of primary production in New South Wales with all Australians,” he said.
“These Equine Artists will be injecting some new energy into the Wagga arena with some never before seen stunts that will make you catch your breath as you watch and encourage intimate and intricate horse moments that celebrate the bond between humans and horses.”
The Wagga Show will be held on September 7 and 8 at the Wagga Showgrounds.
Opening times for the event are 10am to 9pm both days and the sideshow alley opens at 1pm on the Friday.
