Early estimates from Group Nine director Brian Walker suggested attendance had further slipped since last year’s decider saw Southcity make it back-to-back wins over Gundagai.
The Tigers turned things around on the paddock this time with a 13-6 victory over the Bulls but Walker said numbers weren’t so strong in the spectators’ department.
“We haven’t tallied everything up yet but there weren’t as many people as last year. Early estimates for gate takings are around $25,000,” Walker said.
Though other coinciding events and poor weather may have detracted from general attendance, Equex Centre was well below capacity.
“We had lots of under 16s there as well that left early on too,” Walker said.
Sunday’s grand final tickets were priced at $15 for adults and $7 for concession and pensioners.
