The Cherrypickers had won 11 on the trot and went into the under 16s decider as heavy favourites but found themselves down 8-4 early in the second half.
It took a big second half to see them home – but not without a few scuffles.

Young then completed a junior premiership double with the under 18s taking out the Weissel Cup in a 14-10 thriller against Southcity.
The Cherrypickers shot out to three-try lead but were almost reeled in by the fast-finishing Bulls.
Southcity’s Burmeister Shield side, however, weren’t to be denied in their decider.
The Bulls outmuscled Kangaroos in an all-Wagga affair in the second grade grand final, scrapping out a 18-6 win to go back-to-back.
