More than 40 schools from around the Riverina and Southern NSW region flocked to Paramore Park for the day-long event showcasing the best junior rugby talent on offer.
The Wagga school dominated the boys field in a hard-fought day, taking out two championships with both the year 7-8 side and year 9-10 side winning their grand finals.
Mater Dei battled hard in the year 7-8 final to take a tight win over Griffith’s Wade High School while the year 9-10 side swept aside all-comers on their way to the title.
Wade didn’t go home empty-handed in the end as both the year 7-8 girls and year 9-10 girls brought their A-game to their grand finals.
The year 7-8 side were awarded the top prize after scoring the last try in their drawn decider while the year 9-10 side notched a gritty win over Wagga High School in the last game of the day.
“We would’ve been close to having 50 schools here in total,” Southern Inland competitions and services manager Jack Heffernan said.
