When looking into a solar system there are some vital steps to take: do plenty of research, and get trusted advice based on your individual or business needs.
Planet Power’s renewable energy consultants can guide you through the entire process from new and existing homes, commercial properties and off-grid applications.
Most people still think living off grid means they can’t have the same lifestyle, but it’s simply not true.
“If you go off grid you can still have a luxurious lifestyle,” Planet Power owner Craig Burmeister said.
“A lot of people don’t have an understanding of what batteries can do.”
Most of Craig’s clients who invested in solar a few years ago are now investing in battery technology.
“Not too many countries are using batteries at a household level – Australia is the leader,” he said.
Linking solar panels to the home or battery is arguably the most important element of a solar system.
Planet Power only deal in Micro-Inverters to connect solar systems.
“Safety and performance are the main reasons why we use them,” Craig said.
This system allows for individual panel performance, increased output with safety and overall security being key factors.
Having panels connected individually increases their effectiveness.
“It produces more power and each panel operates independently,” Craig said.
“If get you dirt, dust or shade on a panel, it only impacts that panel”.
“DC systems, on the other hand, have many factors that determine the performance as one-in-all”.
The panels are all strung together and shade on one panel impacts all the panels.
“Beware of buying cheap systems, or investing in solar, without doing your research first,” Craig said.
“There are many articles on the web relating to the expensive price of cheap solar.
“A lot of our time is spent replacing DC systems, or rectifying issues with cheap sales bundles, that people have bought from other companies."
Aside from rectifying issues with systems installed by other companies, the team at Planet Power spent about half their time last year installing more panels or batteries for existing customers.
“We enjoyed the results of supplying our customers with AC systems; adding additional panels as required; and installing energy storage batteries. Clients, being able to reduce their bills, found they were able to reinvest in battery storage due to their energy savings,” Craig said.
“If we sell solar panels to you this year, chances are we’ll be back next year installing a battery.
“It’s a good feeling when the client gets more than expected from a quality system purchased from Planet Power.”
