The competition night this Wednesday showcases the slam poets of the monthly community performance poetry event, Raw Roar.
Led by Wagga local woman Tara Ryot and a team of passionate community members, the competition night illustrates the voice of the local community.
“Once a year we change the night to simulate a more ‘traditional’ slam. We have judges, rather than everyone voting, we have a cash prize and, we have the most important item in all sports; a perpetual trophy,” Tara said.
Raw Roar, a monthly slam poetry night, takes place every last Wednesday of the month at the Home Tavern until December this year.
Raw Roar is a not-for-profit creative event run by locals.
The event itself is free, however, entry into the slam competition requires $10 entry fee. In this competition setting, poets will have three minutes to perform.
Winner takes all, cash prize.
