On its opening day today, Westside Petroleum on Docker Street is selling for 99.8 cents per litre.
Motorists lined up along Docker and Morgan streets for up to 20 minutes to fill their tanks.
Jacob Honey said the low price was a positive.
Asked if he would come back to fill his car while the price remained low, Mr Honey said “definitely, all the time”.
The last time average petrol prices were lower than 100 cpl in NSW was 92.2 cpl in 2003, according to data by Fleet Auto News.
In Wagga, the average unleaded price as of Friday was 144.6 cpl and the state’s was 145.2 cpl based on NSW Government’s Fuel Check app.
Westside Petroleum’s state manager Shahzaib Khawaja said the low price should remain for “a few more days”.
“I can’t really make comment on that because it’s a head office decision,” Mr Khawaja said.
The store opening comes after 10 months of renovations in which the place was closed.
“We spent a fair bit of money outside,” Mr Khawaja said.
The opening of the site comes after the ACCC released its latest quarterly report showing petrol prices were at a four-year high.
