It’s bound to be controversial, and it was certainly no easy task, with a host of players stating strong cases for their selection.
This year features a real changing on of the guard with only seven players from last year retaining their spot.
As they have done for most of the season, Southcity dominates the team with eight players selected including most of the back line.
Considering the Bulls have scored almost 200 more points than any of their rivals it is hard to go past them.
There were some outstanding seasons from individuals, contributing to many memorable team performances, but in the end, only 17, and a coach, could be named on the teamsheet.
Consistency and importance to their team’s performance were the main criteria, while a real effort was made to select players in roles they generally filled.
That’s right no fullbacks on the wing but it does make it hard to place the likes of Glen Buttriss and Blake Dunn who played changed roles throughout the year.
Stay tuned for the *real* team to be announced as part of Weissel Medal night on Friday.
Zac Masters goes in as favourite but the Blues prop didn’t rate his chances.
Jimmy Smith and Paul Langmack are special guests for the night.
