In a hard-fought Creed Shield decider, the Brian Thomas Medal for best player in the grand final couldn’t be split with one medal going to a player from each side.
Adjudicators ruled out any player who had received a yellow card during the game, eliminating Mater Dei goal scorers Lewis Crowley and Jackson Holmes from the running.
Mater Dei’s Harry Trevaskis and Wagga High’s Will Lonsdale were eventually deemed worthy recipients, following on from past winners Jakub Wrobel and Kyle Yeates.
The decision was more straightforwards for the best player in the Shipard Shield final with the Tiffany Selby Medal deservedly going to Mater Dei skipper Brooke Gayler.
Gayler scored three of her side’s four goals in a dominant grand final display against Kooringal to retain the Shield for a second year.
