Liberal candidate Julia Ham and Police Minister Troy Grant visited Wagga PCYC on Monday to inspect work towards $10 million in upgrades to youth sports and recreation that was allocated in the 2018-19 state budget.
“Once built, the new facility will include four indoor courts that can be used for a number of sports, plus numerous multi-purpose activity spaces,” Mrs Ham said.
Labor candidate Dan Hayes and opposition leader Luke Foley have pledged $7 million for safety upgrades to Farrer Road to help meet demand from Wagga’s fast-growing northern areas.
“It’s a shocking road for the amount of traffic for the current needs but also because that is such a high growth area in (Wagga) council’s plans, we need the key infrastructure in there. ” he said.
“Roads are part of that and Farrer Road is not the only road, but it is probably the most important one for that future growth.
“Ne need to get that road up to standard not just for the current standards, but for future decades.”

Last week, Wagga mayor Greg Conkey identified Farrer Road works as a priority and said he had mentioned the issue to NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian.
Cr Conkey said the council could easily spend $120 million in the next 12 months and still not fix all of the maintenance issues.
Mr Hayes said he agreed with Estella residents’ calls to upgrade ‘Gobba’ Bridge due to growing traffic demands.
