Southern Inland earlier pledged to donate 20 per cent of its gate takings from this year’s final and grand final rounds to assist drought-stricken farmers.
A generous crowd attended Conolly Rugby Complex to attend Saturday’s grand final round and Heffernan is excited to tally up the gate takings.
“I though we had a great crowd and one side of the field was pretty much full despite the weather,” he said.
“For every single person that paid their $10, $2 is going straight to drought relief for Riverina farmers.”
Heffernan was happy to see a vocal crowd in action.
“It’s always good being an all-Wagga final but we had no issues with behaviour apart from the sponsors’ tent flying away during the first grade final,” he said.
