The Bulls flew out of the blocks and were never headed in the grand final qualifier at Harris Park on Saturday.
In one of his best performances of the season, Nathan Rose scored after two minutes to set Southcity on the path to another grand final appearance.
Captain-coach Kyle McCarthy was thrilled to have booked the first place in the decider on September 1 after the 28-6 victory.
“It’s a good feeling,” McCarthy said.
Southcity have been charging over the top of teams this season but showed a lot more control in the first round of the finals.
McCarthy was impressed it wasn’t needed this time around.
“We started really, really well,” he said.
“We were eight (completions) from eight to start the game and that set the tone.
“They were pretty gassed early on and we captialised on it.”
After Rose’s opening try it didn’t take Southcity long to extend their lead.
Luke McBeath scored after 14 minutes before Jack Lyons crossed for a 16-0 advantage.
Cade Price scored just before half-time to keep Brothers in the hunt but it was all Southcity in the second half.
Tim Hurst went over seven minutes into the second half before Usaia O’Sullivan scored to complete the win.
Not even a surprise appearance from Peter Little could inspire the Brethren.
Little was initially ruled out for the season following their loss to the Bulls three weeks ago.
Brothers picked up a handful of injuries in the … loss and despite having most of their players back now struggled to contain the minor premiers.
They now need to regroup with their season on the line.
McCarthy admitted it was far from a complete performance.
“We got into a bit of our old crap, trying to find miracle offloads, but the best thing was we defended them errors this time instead of letting them scores tries,” he said.
“That was probably the most pleasing thing with only the one try for them.”
McCarthy was impressed with the performance of the team's forward pack.
Rose was also a standout.
“It was one of Nathan Rose’s highlight games of the year,” McCarthy said.
“He was really good and looked dangerous every time he got the ball in hand and sorta settled the troops as well when we started to get a bit erratic.”
The Bulls also got through the clash unscathed on the injury front.
Fullback Jake Dooley didn’t play due to a knee injury but shapes as the only change for the grand final.
