Hosegood left his best performance of an already stellar season till last, racking up plenty of carries and a defensive highlights reel to go along with the opening try of the game as his Tahs notched an emphatic 52-14 grand final win over Ag College.

Predominately used as a blindside flanker in his two seasons at the club, Hosegood switched to the back of the scrum midway through the year and has relished his new position.

“I like playing in (number) eight. There’s a bit more space to work with and you can do a few more runs from the scrum base,” he said.

The decider was Hosegood’s first in a winning side after featuring in last year’s 30-29 grand final loss to Leeton.

Though the margin wast vastly different to that of 2017’s decider, the loose forward was quick to praise Ag College for a hard-fought decider at Conolly Rugby Complex.

“It was quick, intense and brutal out there,” Hosegood said.

“I thought we had a strong set piece which helped out, though we also had a few line outs go astray but I guess that’s what happens in a final sometimes.”
