Robinson said it was the right time, for family reasons, to call time on his commitment.
“It was definitely a hard decision. The Jets are a fantastic club and I’ve really enjoyed my four years out there, and being lucky enough to coach them for the last two years,” Robinson said. “They’re a great bunch of blokes and I’m definitely going to miss them but I just couldn’t commit 100 percent out there.”
Robinson has been a non-playing coach this season after injuring his neck late last year. Based in Coolamon he still isn’t sure if he’ll return to playing but is keen to remain involved in football.
“I’ve loved the coaching. I can't thank the Jets enough for the opportunity,” he said. “It’s something I still want to stay involved with or get involved with. But I need to weigh up whether I want to try to play again.”
The Jets have finished sixth in both seasons under Robinson and he’s hoping to wrap up his tenure with back-to-back wins for the first time this year.
“We’ve had a good year with all the kids we’ve blooded anyway,” he said.
“We want to finish the year on a high,” he said. “After last week (against Coleambally), it would be good to finish off with two good wins. But it’s never easy at The Rock. I think it’ll be a cracking game of footy.”
