Riverina’s social services and issues will be in the spotlight at an upcoming state conference by the NSW Council of Social Service.

The ‘Investing in Communities’ conference on August 28 will showcase local initiatives and discuss strategies and government initiatives in addressing social issues.
Organisations in the Riverina that will be attending include St Vincent de Paul, Marymead, LiveBetter, ACON and Goodstart Early Learning.
Kathy Chapman, acting CEO of NCOSS, said the conference was an opportunity for services to “hear about new ways of working”.
“Local service organisations are key to having a strong sector to address disadvantages and poverty issues,” Ms Chapman said.
“Often these organisations know what the solutions are, so this conference will bring those solutions to the forefront.”
The conference will also shine light on on services’ programs and current work.
This includes a program called ‘Visual Dreaming’ by regional NDIS coordinator Leanne Sanders.
“That program looks at how NDIS can have a greater impact on communities,” Ms Chapman said.
The conference will also provide attendees the chance to network with industry stakeholders.
It will run from 9am to 4.30pm at the Wagga RSL Club on Kincaid and Dobbs streets.
