Standing at nearly four metres tall and four metres wide, Monster trucks are custom-designed machines that weigh almost 5,500 kilograms.
They are built for short, high-powered bursts of speed and can accelerate from 0-100kph in under three seconds.
Camden Murphy, one of the competing drivers at Monster Jam, said he got into the industry by never giving up.
“I started racing when I was 10 years old and was fortunate enough to have a lot of success,” he said.
“In 2014, I was presented with an opportunity to start racing in NASCAR, with that, I was given the opportunity to go to Monster Jam University and graduated in 2017.”
Murphy said he always had a fascination with cars and racing.
“Before I started racing, my dad and I would always watch the NASCAR races on Sunday and go to car shows,” he said.
“That is what really got me in the industry.”
The biggest highlight for Murphy so far is is being crowned the 2017 Monster Jam Rookie of the Year.
“Some of the challenges I have faced are going up against some of the veterans,” he said.
“They have been doing it for years and know every trick in the book.
“At the same time, it is incredibly humbling that I get to compete against the best of the best and the drivers I grew up watching on TV.”
Murphy said fans of Monster Jamin Wagga should come along to the Sydney event.
“It is unexpected, unscripted, and unforgettable,” he said.
“You never know, you just might see the next biggest move or trick at the ANZ Stadium.”
We’re giving one Wagga enthusiast the chance to win a double pass to the weekend’s activities.
