Nationals MP Wes Fang moved that the upper house congratulate “shed president, Peter Quinane, the executive and all those who have helped to make the Wagga Wagga Men's Shed such a success”.
“Since its formation 10 years ago, the Wagga Men's Shed has volunteered hundreds of hours to helping charities and took out the coveted Shed of the Year Award in 2017,” the motion stated.
“That this House acknowledges the importance of Men's Shed programs across Australia in establishing a place for men to continue their social interactions and maintain their mental health and wellbeing.”
Wagga Mens Shed held a function on Sunday to mark its 10-year milestone.
Mr Fang also moved that the house commend The Merger director Mark Grentell for dedication to filming in "Waggawood".
The motion also wished actor Damian Callinan and producer Anne Robinson and their production team “all the very best of luck for the premiere of The Merger and for the continued success of making ‘Waggawood’ the film capital of regional NSW”.
The Merger started production in Wagga last year, with the film’s plot follows a football player returning to his country hometown after an abrupt end to his sporting career and deciding to coach the local team.
