The Riverina Central Choir will be performing with Opera Australia in their performance of Madame Butterfly.
The choir was formed in 2009 and is made up of students from local public schools. Zoe Muller, 9, said they have been rehearsing every week to make sure they are getting the music perfect.
“We go around the group and Judy will play on the piano and we have to sing along,” she said. “We know most of the words by heart.
“I am excited to get on stage and the best part is performing in an opera.”
Zoe Willis, 10, echoed her friend’s excitement and said she enjoys practising the songs.
“I like the songs that we get to sing and hum along to,” she said. “I am most excited for when we get to sing on stage and I don’t think I’ll be nervous.”
Judy Gollasch, the choir director, said it’s an amazing opportunity for the students to perform alongside professionals.
The music has challenged them, but they have taken it on willingly, she said. For more information and tickets contact the Wagga Civic Theatre.
