Especially designed for children aged six to 12, ArtBlast! provides a full grounding in a wide range of skills and techniques that encourage participants to explore, innovate and create.
ArtBlast! runs once a month on Saturday afternoons, from 1.30pm to 4pm.
The dates are Saturday, August 25, Saturday, September 22, Saturday, October 27, Saturday, November 24 and Saturday, December 15.
The workshops will blast off on Saturday, August 25 with Story Telling which will see participants experiment with drawing to discover the joys of personal stories looking at the exhibition Ngiyanggarang: Beginning a conversation in the morning to awaken others.
Ngiyanggarang celebrates stories and perspectives from Wiradjuri Elders and is the outcome of a collaboration between two prominent Wiradjuri families, the Grants and the Ingrams and illustrator and researcher Dr Bernard Sullivan in conjunction with Charles Sturt University and Burambabili Gulbali.
These newly documented stories take many forms, with the exhibition narrating these stories through film, illustration, animation and text.
- Each workshop of ArtBlast! costs $20 per child and all materials are provided.
- Bookings and payment can be made over the phone on 02 6926 9660, by email at gallery@wagga.nsw.gov.au, or in person at the Gallery Shop, located in the Civic Centre Arcade.
- Places are limited, and payment confirms your child’s booking.
Soft Core
IT IS with great pleasure that Wagga Art Gallery presents this new and highly innovative exhibition Soft Core, a group exhibition of works curated by Michael Do for Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre, under the auspices of Museums & Galleries NSW.
This exhibition displays a range of both existing and newly commissioned works from 13 Australian and international artists.
Soft Core showcases artistic practices that explore the many facets of ‘softness’ - from large-scale inflatables to forms made from soft materials to materials that simply look soft, questioning the fluctuating understandings of what it means to be soft in today’s climate.
- This exhibition will be officially launched on Friday, September 28 at 6pm.
- The exhibition will be on display in the main gallery space at Wagga Wagga Art Gallery from June 2 to until October 28.
