Twenty teams from across the Riverina braved the chilly conditions at Jubilee Park last Sunday for the annual Packham Cup, hosted by Wagga Hockey.
Hoop There It Is, a team made up of young Wagga players from Royals, Lake Albert and Harlequins, went on to claim the trophy with a 3-0 win over Cowra in the final.
A Gundagai-Harlequins team called Slippery Stick Handlers edged out Griffith team G-Town in the consolation final.
For the second year in a row, Tumut won the Schipps Trophy for the women’s competition.
They matched their 2007 form to go through the tournament undefeated.
Like their men’s team, Cowra finished runners up, going down 3-1 to Tumut in their last match.
Hawaii Shoes finished third in the women’s, with G-Town fourth.
Six junior teams from Cowra, Griffith, Tumut and Wodonga all travelled to Wagga to thoroughly enjoy the day.
