Killara Kaos ($1.20) returned from six weeks off with an all-the-way win in the $10,000 Lion Nathan Club Menangle Where Horses Fly C0-C1 Heat (1755m).
Blake Jones hardly moved on the talented four-year-old as he defeated Harrys Delight ($20.20) by 4.8 metres in the fastest mile rate of the night, 1:57.7.
Killara Kaos was due to contest a final of the same series at Menangle in June but was scratched on the morning of the race due to a virus.
After making his first appearance back on the track on Tuesday night in fine style, McKelvie hopes for no further setbacks this campaign.
“Hopefully I can get a few more runs under his belt this time in,” McKelvie said.
“It didn’t surprise me how he went, he could have raced sooner but I held him back for that race.
“Hopefully he draws a barrier at Menangle next week.”
Killara Kaos took his record to five wins from 12 starts with the effort at Wagga.
The Col Thomas-trained Bettermatch won the other heat of the Club Menangle Country Series Heat at Wagga on Tueday night, for C2-C3 pacers.
Steve Maguire took Bettermatch straight to the front and he was never headed, recording a 3.8 metre win in a mile rate of 1:59.0.
It was another good night for Blake Jones, who won four of the nine races at Wagga.
He combined with Ellen Bartley to win one of the postponed Evolution Series heats, for 3YO Fillies, with Man Hands ($1.30).
The talented three-year-old made it two from two since being transferred to the Bartley stable.
The other Evolution Series heat, for 3YO Colts and Geldings, was won by Sword And Shield ($2.40) for David Hewitt.
