Bill Hardman is being remembered as a friendly, hard-working family man with a ready smile and a passion for rugby league.
The father of three sons died in a two-car crash on the Olympic Way at Table Top just after 9am.
As news of the crash became more widely known, Mr Hardman’s family and friends took to social media to pay tribute to the 44-year-old and offer their condolences.
Many members of Mr Hardman’s extended family live in Wagga.
Mr Hardman, who was married to Amanda, was an amazing dad and a hard worker, according to friends, who also paid tribute to his kindness.
Other friends have remembered his volunteer work at Sacred Heart Primary School and Mater Dei Catholic College, the schools attended by his sons, Joshua, Mitchell and Isaac.
Many posters recalled Mr Hardman’s happy smile and friendly manner and one described him as being “happy go lucky”, while offering messages of support to his family.
Mr Hardman had only begun working for the Australian Military Bank earlier this year.
Australian Military Bank’s Bernadette Gates said she and her colleagues were still in shock, but were trying to support each other and Mr Hardman’s family.
“Bill had only been with the bank for a short time, but he was a fabulous person,” Ms Gates said.
“He was a hard worker with close links to his community.
“Anyone who knew him knew he was a football fan.”
Mr Hardman had long-standing ties to the Wagga Magpies Junior Rugby League Football Club.
He was among the crowd celebrating the Magpies’ 50th anniversary reunion in 2014 and was strong supporter of the club.
Having attended what was Trinity Senior High School in Wagga, Mr Hardman went on to work in the banking industry.
Before joining the Australian Military Bank he worked for Suncorp Bank, and prior to that was with the NAB.
Officers from the NSW Police crash investigation unit are still investigating the Table Top crash and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
Funeral arrangements for Mr Hardman have not yet been finalised.
