“I’m hopeful we can be a bit of a spoiler side for the rest of the year,” Lopez said.
“I’m proud of the way the boys have played this year and though we won’t be playing finals, I reckon we can beat a few more teams before the end.”
Tumut lost their way after rising as high as sixth on the ladder but will be dangerous opponents for Leeton in the final round of regular season fixtures next month, particularly after last week’s impressive showing against Henwood Park.
The Eagles lead the Hawks 2-1 last weekend before losing Reece Mastellotto to a red card midway through the game, sparking a four-goal turnaround that eventually left them on the wrong end of a 5-2 scoreline on Saturday night.
Tumut will face an improving South Wagga at Bull Paddock after this weekend’s Pascoe Cup general bye.
