In a quirk of the conditions, the five-year-old is eligible for the C2-C3 despite winning a final at Menangle last month.
After an impressive win at Menangle on July 7, trainer Col Thomas is looking to make the most of another shot.
“We’re lucky to get in it as you can only win one in 12 months,” Thomas said.
Bettermatch had to sustain plenty of early pressure to win his final in a mile rate of 1:51.3.
The first half was run in 54.3 second, but he still held on for the win.
Thomas thought the hot tempo actually suited him.

Geldof has drawn seven and looms as the obvious threat to the former star juvenile on the comeback trail.
“It’s a pretty nice horse,” Thomas said.
“We’re lucky he’s a C3 and we’re a C2 so he’s drawn bad and we will probably lead.
