Jeffery hasn’t confirmed where his future lies but the 31-year-old is certain of one thing – he won’t be back for a third year at the helm of the Wagga club
“I don’t know what I’m doing yet, but I’m not coaching,” Jeffery said.
In his four seasons as coach he’s failed to make finals on three occasions.
After two misses with Albury, Kangaroos were knocked out of the running in the first week of the finals last season and the Wagga side has really fallen away this season.
They sit in eighth with five wins to their credit.
Off-field matters are what the former NRL player wants to focus on.
Particularly spending more time with three-year-old son Brooklyn.
“I want to spend more time with Brooklyn and it (coaching) does take up a lot of time,” Jeffery said.
“I’m doing an apprenticeship now so I’ll get my head into that and start working flat out.”
There is talk Jeffery is headed back to the border.
He spent five seasons with Albury, winning three premierships in his first three seasons there, before taking over as coach.
However he’s yet to lock in plans for 2019.
“I haven’t spoken to anyone and I’m really not too fussed about it at the moment to be honest,” Jeffery said.
Kangaroos have lost six of their last seven games to slip well out of contention.
However Jeffery is looking for a winning note to end their season on when they face Brothers for the first time at Equex Centre on Saturday.
“It would be nice to finish it off with a win,” he said.
“The boys are pretty keen for it and hopefully we can get up for the game.
“We have a few young guys playing.”
Jeffery won’t play after injuring his hamstring in the loss to the Thunder last week and Tyson McLachlan comes back into the halves for the clash.
A Kangaroos win puts Brothers spot in second place in jeopardy and it just adds to their incentive to finish on a high.
