It has been another busy week of news and sport at The Daily Advertiser, just one of almost 7800 we’ve had since we opened in 1868.
The newspaper is preparing to celebrate its 150th birthday in October and this weekend we are kicking off 10 weeks of historical coverage.
Time has been spent taking a trip down memory lane as we prepared the coverage for week one on natural disasters over the past century-and-a-half.
The next few weeks will cover different topics, including national and international headlines, politics, sport and our military history, that have shaped this city’s past.
But in the midst of all of this, we have also focused on continuing to bring the news of this week to the city.
Paul Funnel announced on Friday his intention to run as an independent candidate in the upcoming byelection.
This has put an end to weeks of speculation as to who, if anyone, would run against Dan Hayes.
