Council environmental education officer Sam Parsell recently returned from the 2018 Litter Congress in Sydney and says stopping tossers is now higher on her agenda than ever.
“One of the big things I learnt about was just trying to cut through, because we see so many messages and ads a day that it’s so hard for a poor little litter campaign to get noticed,” Ms Parsell said.
“It’s about sticking to your simple goals and going for it – you can’t change the world in one day.”
Ms Parsell said she’s starting with targeting waste on the roads leading to the Gregadoo tip.
“I have a project running at the moment called ‘don’t be a tosser, cover your load’ and its targeting roadside litter on the way out to the tip,” she said.
“We handed out more than 150 free cargo covers in May as well to help people secure their loads.”
